It's that time of year. I desperately need a bike trainer. Recommendations?

Something surprisingly good without totally breaking the bank would be delightful!

I noticed this community's gone dead and I wanted to invite anyone still interested in tri-training to join a new community:

iron_folk was started as a place for my friend and I to post about our ironman training, but we're opening it up to anyone in training (especially for triathlons) to discuss the process.

Hello all!

A bit ago, I joined the lj-comm runners, but as I was reading, I realized that no one really ever posted about their trials with swimming and cycling, and thus began a LJ hunt to find a community for triathletes.

So, here I am. My name is Emily and I am about to do my very first triathlon (sprint)...Wildflower, in Paso Robles, California. Hell yes!! May 3rd!

Today I ventured out to buy mountain biking shoes and pedals with my coach...most amazing thing EVER! Did my second-ish bike/run today, also, pre the shoe purchase. They are beautiful Shimanoes. I love them!

Anyone else in training or have anything to share? I would love to see this community re-vamped!

-Emily

I just found this community and was sad to see no posts in it, so I thought I'd change that.

My name is Aaron and I live in St. Paul, Minnesota. I will be doing my first triathlons this year - a sprint in early May and an olympic length in August. Before my training plan starts in a couple weeks, I'm getting myself accustomed to swimming again. I started running a couple times a week this fall and have my bike on a trainer in the basement.

So I'm pretty excited and nervous about all of this, but I think it stands a very good chance of being my next addiction.

Peace,
p2p
